As per our Fire Risk Assessment, all groups using Tyn-Y-Nant are required to have a Fire Alarm Drill as part of their stay at the centre.

The Fire Drill must take place within the first 24 hours of the group being on-site.

Please read the following guide and comply with the instructions:

  • All attending should be informed of the assembly point on the football field – this is mapped out clearly on the notices in all accommodation.
  • The fire register list must be completed and should be kept updated; an accommodation plan proforma is provided. It is strongly advised the accommodation plan is used as it acts as a map.
  • The director or person responsible for the letting should ensure there are a group of people fully informed of the fire evacuation plan. Including calling 999 and directing the fire brigade to the most suitable gate.
  • Fire marshals should be appointed for the duration of the camp/letting to safely check all areas listed:
    • Chalet accommodation & toilet block
    • Tent accommodation & toilet block – open coach park gate also code 4316.
    • Rec room, workshop and craft room areas including garages and rear path
    • Dining room and kitchen
    • Shop, cottage and worship tent areas
    • Campfire field and viewing platforms (including those in the woods)
  • If it is evening or night time, the first fire marshal to arrive should turn the manual power switch on the telephone pole near the ramp to the football pitch to activate the emergency floodlights. All fire marshalls must know the location of this switch.
  • Full registers should be taken of those at the assembly point.
  • Fire marshals should report back to their team leader at the steps to the phone box to confirm their area was cleared.
  • The lead fire marshal should confirm all fire marshals have returned and then marshals should be sent to cover both gates to guide access for fire engine, others move to the assembly point. If any marshal does not return, they should be located immediately.
  • A Fire Drill Record form should be completed by the lead fire marshal, director or person responsible for the letting. These are now completed online by clicking the button below.
  • If the alarm is activation during your stay, please complete an evacuation record by clicking the button below.
